[FDS] The Story of Hearthcliffe

Not to be confused with the comic strip character Heathcliff, but Hearthcliffe is the pseudonym of Jack Fawkes, the admin of Team Crimson in the game Chuhou Joutai , which is a game I'm making. The central protagonist is in my profile icon. His name is Susumu "Driller" Takajima, the player...

[N163] Touhou 5: Mystic Square - Legendary Illusion ~ Infinite Being

Sorry, haven't written a song in a while. I changed my email address and my account got deactivated as a result. I don't know why it took so long, but that's over with. Anyways, here's the final boss theme of Touhou 5: Mystic Square . The intro of the song was the only part that I had to do by ear, ...

I agree with you. ZUN has written music in every key ever imagined.

A Beginner's Guide to Writing Touhou-style music

After weeks of trying to mock ZUN's iconic style used in many of the Touhou Project games, I finally figured out on how to write Touhou-styled music. This post isn't a music theory class but is a breakthrough on how ZUN writes the music for his games. Part 1: Selecting your chip ZUN mainly uses the ...

[N163] - Touhou 5: Mystic Square - End of the World ~ World's End

Hey, Driller here again. Here I come with another cover from Touhou 5: Mystic Square . This is the final stage theme, before the fight with Shinki. Again, since there was no MIDI for me to copy from, I had to do it by ear (do not expect this to be perfectly accurate, but if you notice any mistakes, ...

Re: Key signature

I agree with that, but I wouldn't use it. Generally, I'm no expert in music theory here, but I can break this down for you. For almost every song I cover, I usually try to guess the key the song is written in just by examining the notes in a MIDI file using a MIDI editor. Just recently, I covered th...

Re: Kick drum on triangle wave (2A03)

It appears to be the notes you mentioned are the same ones used for the bass drum and some snare instruments used in the PC-98 Touhou games.

[N163] - Touhou 4: Lotus Land Story - Witching Dream

Hey. Driller again. Yes, there's a MIDI version of Witching Dream. However, there's no accurate version unless you convert it to .s3m format and export it as MIDI. I covered this song using the Namco N163 module, basing it off of KuroBit's cover, which used the VRC7 module. Asides from the instrumen...
