Re: Is 900BPM not fast enough?

The things in the NES that can be faster than the regular 60Hz update rate are the pulse hardware sweeps which operate at 120Hz and the Triangle linear counter which operates at 240Hz. (As a side note, the length counters are 120Hz as well, but all the lookup table values you can use are even values...

Re: I was wondering if there was a way to make noise into an instrument.

If you hack your .ftm with a hex editor to use a very high engine rate, something like 8000Hz, you can use the volume sequence to generate a wave. At 8000Hz, the macro | 15 0 will create a 4000Hz square wave. | 15 15 0 0 would similarly create a 2000Hz square wave. The engine speed is thus "div...

Re: Hopefully more active Famicom Hardware Recordings thread

I spent the last few hours trying to balance the volumes between the VRc7 and the 2A03, though I have no idea how this is going to turn out on real hardware, especially the distorted guitar patch. Two loops are just about 2:00. Thanks in advance, this is one of the few covers I made that I really wa...

Re: Hopefully more active Famicom Hardware Recordings thread

What are the right levels for VRC7 channels? I'd have one of my Thunder Force 4 covers coming but I need to lower the volume of the VRC7, I just don't know by how much.

Re: Music Conversion

You can convert music to "8-bit" pretty easily, just export a 8-bit PCM file using Audacity and that's it... or listen to Amiga music, that's "8-bit" too!

Good thing that I'm just noticing this now... oh well I'm too busy with university anyway. But I'll be sure to give those entries a listen some time :)

Re: Version 0.5 preview

ROM export is completely broken. There isn't much to elaborate on that in my opinion...unless the person can go ahead and debug the engine to see where it dies... Oh and I also don't understand why VRC7 NSFs interpret the Sxx effect differently. It insta-silences channels by setting the frequency to...
