Re: FamiTracker songs that sound like the C64

SID music can use sawtooth waveforms, uses filter settings more often than not, and has variable PWM which allows for smooth duty cycle changes. The 2A03/2A07 has none of that, it has only 2 square-wave channels with volume control and 4 pulse widths to work with so composers have to find workaround...

Re: Super Mario World - Castle (VRC6)

I enjoyed this one through and through. A+ job on capturing the spooky ambience of the song, chap!
I'm just bothered by the VRC6 squares in frame 1A onwards being a bit too quiet. I'd suggest upping the volume a notch.

Re: Post your instruments here!

All PCM samples from Skate or Die and Kings of the Beach , both written by Rob Hubbard, converted to DPCM for NES use. Samples were recorded from their respective SID files using Acid64 Player in conjunction with jsiddevice. The conversion somehow broke otherwise perfect loops - because of this you ...

Re: Thunder Force IV - Community Cover Project (heroic coup edition)

I also noticed some of the songs marked as taken are still not sent or posted after two whole months. While understandable that the requesters' personal or professional schedule is busy enough to justify putting their covers on hold temporarily, it is recommended to keep the forum informed of any de...

Re: Version 0.5 preview

In case these bugs aren't already reported: Envelope commands in the 5B player conflict with each other, in that: 1° Using H00 and Hxy commands simultaneously in one channel and the one to its right, silences the former until a new Hxy command is added 2° Using H00 and Hxy commands simultaneously in...

Re: Version 0.5 preview

This bug is specific to the S5B player. S5B playback is delayed by (1/NTSC refresh rate)s and because of this the very first byte in the playback queue is ignored and byte $00 is skipped entirely. Oddly enough, this bug only surfaces when using the default NSF and video playback rate. The NSF export...

Re: best way to get the notes from arps?

You can also play channels separately using the older version of SIDPLAY and then record the output for each channel. Makes covering C64 songs much easier.

Nothing beats debugging though.
