Re: Super Mario Land 2 - Wario Battle! [VRC6]

The pulse melody in the third track seems a bit quiet compared to the rest, not sure if that's intentional or not. Other than that this is great! I had a great time listening to this.

Re: Metroid Soundtrack (VRC6) (WIP)

That PWM on VRC6 channels gets old really fast. I think you could've been more creative there instead of resorting to that all the time. Not a fan of Ridley's Lair at all. I think the original worked better. I appreciate the hard work that went into this but those are some issues I think the soundtr...

Re: Solomonster - nogroove [2a03+n163]

That triangle kick starts from way too high a pitch. The N163 needs more grunt, right now it sounds too tinny and borderline annoying.

Other than that, I'd say this is alright.

that is all i have to say.

Quotes do nothing to take away from the fact that you clearly implied that only vanilla 2A03 qualifies as "true" chiptune. You still clearly meant this, and there's no escaping from that now.

Re: New Competition?!

Are you still brooding over this lepage or is this a ripperino thread? The aim of this thread was just to see how much interest this would get; I haven't started planning the competition proper yet, but that should come sooner than later, barring some unforeseen personal life events getting in the ...

Re: Favorite soundchip?

Part of the reason why it never did get old is because I've gotten pretty good at coming up with custom instruments really quick. Another reason why I like to work with the VRC7 is the challenge of incorporating the default patches with your custom one + the sound of the 2A03. I'm also not very good...

Re: Cursor Issues

The Scroll Lock toggle on the keyboard also toggles the Follow-mode switch. Perhaps that's what you accidentally toggled.

Re: Display effect state

I think that looks pretty good. Perhaps an indication of what the "6, 2" next to "Vibrato" means would be useful. Maybe a plus sign (+) next to the "Fine pitch" to make it more evident that it's positive would be good.

Re: Favorite soundchip?

I find myself having the most fun when composing with the 2A03+VRC7 combo. At some point I also liked dabbling with the N163, but it eventually got old, something the VRC7 never did for me.

Re: Famicom Hardware Recordings Thread

A hardware recording is a recording of an NSF on a real Famicom (and, if applicable, a real expansion chip).

I would suggest that you read the guidelines in the first post and then edit your request accordingly.
