Disproportionately High Download Counts

Postby Lum » Tue Dec 08, 2015 3:08 am

Recently I posted a song in Original Music. Within 10 minutes, it had been downloaded over 200 times. As of now it has 457 downloads, while the topic only has 67 views. Then, last night I posted another song. As of now, the topic has 52 views, but the .ftm has a whopping 1425 downloads.

It's not just my songs, either. For example:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1076
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1319
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1337
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1338

What's happening? Is a glitch, or is somebody actually downloading people's songs repeatedly?

Edit: In the time it took to write this, the download count on my second song actually went down from 1425 to 1423. This is definitely a glitch.

You are right that you are not downloading your own songs. Typically, in any thread, the download number is lower than that of the view number. This is an unusual case. If it's someone downloading songs repeatedly, then I don't know who is doing so. It's glitchy, but I don't know what caused the glitch to happen. We'll find out, hopefully. ;)

What makes you think that 2000-something people haven't downloaded the beta and instead, the high download count is a glitch? Would you say the same about the official version if you could see the download count?

Stop posting about these non-issues please.
