Say that in Japanese and there would probably be someone to translate it for everyone else.

Bumpって、どこまでが良くて、どこからが駄目なんですか?

Wow, Google Translate was absolutely hopeless with that.

But if you mean a "limit on bumps", that could be interpreted a number of ways:
- Is there a limit to the # of times you can bump a thread? Not technically, however, the more you bump a thread the more likely it is to attract moderator attention and get locked.
- Is there a limit on how old of a thread you can bump (also known as a "necro") ? No, but depending on how you bump it, a moderator might rule it as a pointless thing and lock the thread.

The key thing is if you want to bump a thread find something that actually continues or contributes to the discussion. Don't just make a reply saying "bump" or asking for somebody else to add something useful, the moderators will notice stuff like this pretty quickly and lock threads for it.

I think I get what you mean? You are asking about an exact boundary which separates the acceptable bumps and the not acceptable bumps.

If that's the case, I'm pretty sure it's generally not accepted to bump a thread that's either on page 2 or later, or one that's over a month old. Unless, of course, you have something very important to add.

Hm... an exact boundary? It's kinda hard to come up with that since whether a bump is acceptable or not is completely subjective, but generally you don't want to bump a thread that is more than a few weeks or a month old. If you must really bump a thread, you must provide significative new content or else you'll get smacked by us. :)

I'm anti-sage. If you say something new in the thread, it should be bumped.

Sage is for 4chan where there is a very limited number of active threads. This is a totally different environment: all threads remain live forever, unless locked or deleted.

To put it another way, your request is "I want to post things in old threads, but I don't want people to notice."

If you aren't going to post something that's worth reading, just don't post it at all.
