Forum suggestion: Remove "FamiTracker Home" from navigation

Postby SriK » Tue Jun 02, 2015 6:01 am

I intuitively just click on the leftmost link in the top/bottom navigation bar if I want to get to the board index while navigating a forum, it's practically an unconscious pattern ingrained from years of Internet forum browsing. However, here the leftmost link takes me to the Famitracker homepage, not the board index. This decision is really throwing me off, since I keep clicking on the wrong thing trying to navigate around here. I'm sure some others have this problem as well, and I don't really see any benefits; if someone comes here and they don't know what Famitracker is, it's not like it's hard to find, and they'll probably just click on the logo out of curiosity which would then take them to the homepage. It's a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, but yeah.

I think that's a theme thing. The black theme doesn't have "Famitracker home" in it.

it does on the bottom of the page, and I often find myself mistakenly clicking it as well. in fact i did it right before replying to this thread.

This is part of the theme design, that link is supposed to point to the main web page according to the control panel. Changing that link would also change the icon link.

It's possible to remove it from the theme I guess, but then there's the trouble maintaining it during updates and stuff. I'll check it.

If I recall correctly, I know that (at least in PunBB) you can rearrange the links' position on the page. For example, you can actually swap the Forums & Home links with each other.

I'm not sure if this is possible in this forum, though.
