Uh... How do I delete a topic?

Postby Overlord99 » Sun Jun 28, 2015 6:36 pm

This is really embarrassing... But you probably saw that gigantic FTM dump topic I made. I just now realized I cold have put them all in one ZIP file and not have had to attach each one manually. I can't find a way to delete it. Someone help?

You should be able to see a delete button somewhere inside your post. For the dark theme, it's in the top right corner, just beside your avatar. If you wish, I can also remove it myself.

Also I moved this to Site Issues & Suggestions because it's related to the site.

Ah, I'm using the default blue theme. I never saw it. Thank you!

Go to the User Control Panel and select the Board preferences tab. Find the "My board style" option and then select the Black theme on the dropdown list.

Okay, so I've figured out that apparently the only post I can delete is the latest comment I've made on it. I can't delete the topic itself. Can you please take care of it?

It only now occurs to me that the ability to delete one's own posts would probably not be a good thing. We've had incidents in the past of people turning into sausages, which yielded dramatic consequences. However, the ability to lock one's own thread might be a good thing to have. It wouldn't result in any loss of content, and would help contain the problem when threads are accidentally created twice (until a staff member steps in and actually deletes the extra thread).

I'm not sure if this new forum software limits users' abilities to edit and delete posts after an amount of time. Senaculum had like a 1 week period (?) where you could freely edit your posts, so I'm curious to know if this is available here too.

For the uninitiated, this means removing your own posts' content, therefore turning them into blank posts. This is why the time limit for edits was introduced, as far as I know.

By the way, prior to removing his thread, I took the content of his post and sent it to him afterwards, so his new thread is basically the same, minus the gigantic amount of posts.

This would be useful, perhaps with a set time limit too.
