More issues:

  • 5B volume level metres: volume 0xF through 3 show up fine, but volume 2 shows as one block, and volume 1 shows as no blocks:

  • VRC7 instrument editor: it greys-out the Modulator Release slider when Modulator Sustained is checkmarked, correctly. However, close the same instrument editor window and reopen it: said Modulator Release slider is no longer greyed-out.
  • VRC7: Sxx effect works in tracker, but buggy in NSF export.

Added support for changing pitch without retriggering the instrument. Use the note cut key in the instrument column to insert commands for doing that.

I tried pushing my "note cut" key (which is "]") in the instrument column but nothing happens. Tried remapping it to "K" and same result.

The keymappings have been changed between builds, and without enough documentation. :(

I thought it was last assigned to F? or A? Or 1 or 4? I don't know....

It doesn't matter what button to which the note cut is assigned (assuming that it does not conflict with other bindings); note cuts in the instrument column do not work at all.

Just found a copy of beta 2, and hitting note cut in the instrument column works - shows "&&." In beta 2, it doesn't really seem to work properly, but all the issues are fixed in beta 5 if I save the file in 2 and load it in 5. Still can't actually access the command in 5 though.

edit: I've been playing around with this command and the only real annoyance is that you can't change instruments when you use it, obviously, which is a bit annoying as you can change instruments when you have 3FF active (same idea, stops notes from retriggering). I'd prefer this to be a on/off command like 3xx.

In beta 3 (iirc) and on, you'd press 'h' in the instrument column, instead of whatever key you have note cut assigned to, to insert &&.

It would help if this were noted in the original post.

I've been wondering ... since the 0.5 beta makes breaking changes to the FTM format, can it not set system file associations upon startup?

Only until it reaches the official release, of course.

This bug is specific to the S5B player.
S5B playback is delayed by (1/NTSC refresh rate)s and because of this the very first byte in the playback queue is ignored and byte $00 is skipped entirely.
Oddly enough, this bug only surfaces when using the default NSF and video playback rate.

The NSF export is not affected.
