FamiTracker for other OS?

Postby Sky Yoshi » Fri Apr 01, 2016 4:34 am

I wanna run FT with Mac, and Ubuntsu.
You know why? I have no PC other than that that can use Internet.
Well, my PCs are really slow and I still can't run Discord, and go to Twitter, Facebook, deviantART, and this forum.
I don't know that I can run FamiTracker but...
I'm Sky Yoshi and I'm a Japanese Tracker.

There is a linux and probably mac port made by cpow. I think he'll be here soon ;)

NukeThePotato attempted it a couple of years back, but he stopped because Microsoft Foundation Classes stuff is really hard to port.

But seeing the repository he got really far.

There is a Qt port, yes. There's no official "build", though.
I've been known to do Linux builds for people once in a while. :)
As for MFC being "kind of hard to port". Meh. It was a PITA but I wouldn't have called it terribly hard.

Famitracker runs fine with wine on any linux distribution, just be sure to increase the buffer size if you have any sound related problem during playback.

I've tried running FT on a Mac using WineBottler (a program for running windows programs on mac and linux), and it seemed to work just fine. I got sound at least. I didn't test it much more than that though but I assume everything else works aswell.
Here's my YouTube channel, my SoundCloud page and my Twitter account.
