Famicom Hardware Recordings Thread

Postby jrlepage » Mon Apr 20, 2015 9:43 pm

I thought this would be fitting for my first post. :p

Most of you are probably familiar with the old hardware recordings thread, and even though it hasn't been updated in a very long time (over eight months!) due to me moving about quite a bit and not having had a proper stable workstation in a while, I still wanted this thread to exist because I'm still more or less taking requests for renders. Also, I wanted the archive of previously rendered NSFs to be out there.

As a reminder, here is a quick list of guidelines for requesting renders:

  1. No more than 2 or 3 requests at a time
  2. Make sure you specify how long the recording should last, including no more than two overall loops
  3. No multi-expansion NSFs
  4. No FDS or 5B NSFs as I do not own the necessary hardware for those
  5. Make sure you specify the expansion you used, if applicable
  6. If your NSF uses the VRC7, make sure you exported it using Famitracker 0.4.1 or later
  7. If your NSF uses more than 15 kB of DPCM data, make sure you exported it using Famitracker 0.4.3 or later
  8. Finally, be patient! I might not get to your request within hours of you posting it, but I'll get to it eventually.

Also, here is a list of the carts I use for each expansion:

  1. VRC6: Akumajou Densetsu
  2. VRC7: Lagrange Point
  3. N163 (1-4 channels): Megami Tensei II
  4. N163 (5-8 channels): King of Kings
  5. MMC5: Just Breed

I also own a PAL NES, so if you want a PAL NSF to be recorded, I can make it happen (as long as it's 2A03 only, of course).

Without further ado, here is the list of the most recent recordings!

**I changed the N163 channel's main volume to 7 in the volume column prior to exporting in order to optimise the overall mixing.

Hi, and stuff. Kinda wanted to request a hardware recording of my first fami original, mainly because I'm curious to hear what the difference would be between that and the ftm itself.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26249894/FamiTracker/compo/spring%20trax.ftm Here is the FTM. Can't wait to hear it! Duration should be around 2:06, if that's at all necessary for a non-looping ftm.

If you specify up to 3 tracks that you would like recorded, I guess yeah.

How about Other Side, Adventurous Spirit, and The Story Continues?
(tracks 1, 3, and 6, respectively)

Also, you can use a Gimmick! repro cart for 5B songs (there are a couple on the forums)

Um... MiniMacro, I think you should specify the track numbers and not their names, seeing that NSFs don't include track titles.

That'd be great! Get in touch with me so that I can give you my shipping address so you know where to send the copy you'd be generously donating to me.

I don't actually own any. I was saying that Gimmick! repro carts can be used if someone wants you to record a 5B song, of which there are a few.

The original cart is pretty hard to find.

I do have a Little Samson cart, though. As a picture on my laptop.

Oh, nice! I might request some recording in the future! Thanks for doing this!

And I also have one question: Do you have a PAL NES that you can record from? Thanks!
Hi! I'm not really active here anymore but I still make music. Nowadays I mostly make dubstep with emphasis on good melodies and chord progressions.
