### Help with Triplets

I'm currently working on a song that has triplets. Although I know how to do triplets at most speeds, I'm not sure how just to do them in the song I'm doing, whose speed alternates between F05 and F06. Does anybody know how to do this?

First consider the number of cycles in the segment you're trying to divide into 3. If we're talking about 3 notes in four rows, it's going to be 22 cycles (F04 + F05 + F04 + F05 = 22). You can't divide it *perfectly* into a triplet, because 22 isn't a multiple of 3, but you can approximate a triplet by making each note 7 cycles long. The first note is on row 1, the second note is on row 2 with a delay G03 (F04 + G03 = 7), and the third note is on row 4 with a delay G01 (F04 + F05 + F04 + G01 = 14).

If you think about it in terms of total cycles / 3 for each note in the triplet, you can easily divide any segment at any tempo into *approximate* triplets.

Thanks for the help! I'll have to remember this for future songs!

???

Code: Select all

` # : Pulse 1 fx2 : Pulse 2 fx2`

ROW 00 : ... .. . ... F06 : ... .. . ... F05

ROW 01 : ... .. . G01 F05 : ... .. . G02 F06

ROW 02 : ... .. . G03 F06 : ... .. . G03 F05

ROW 03 : ... .. . ... F05 : ... .. . ... F06

Also, somewhere at this forum I posted a Lua script for calculating tuplets in general.

Oh, I get it. I was working with F04 and F05. My mistake.
