Where to even start?
Where to even start?
Hi, i'm furiendly and I am new to this program. I've watched the video tutorials by 8BitDanooct so I have an extremely basic grasp on how to use the program. I've tried covering some songs but they don't sound as rad and cool as other people's and was wondering if anyone could help me learn how to make a "proper" song.

A good place to start would be to be less vague and show us your work. Unfortunately, we are not all wizards who know the criteria for "rad and cool," so we can't help you until we see your work, which we can then criticise.
Re: Where to even start?
I would recommend learning music theory. You could also analyse the FTMs of popular chiptuners; this may give you an idea on how to make good instruments and arrangements. Also, you shouldn't expect your first cover with Famitracker to sound "rad and cool". As MrKyurem said, it would be nice to see your work, so we can criticise and maybe tell you why it doesn't sound "rad and cool".

Here's all the songs I've done.

Re: Where to even start?
I agree that creating good music isn't a matter of how well you use the software, it's more a matter of how good you are at music in general. How do you make a good, catchy melody? What kind of accompaniment should you provide for it (or should it go solo)? What do you make the bassline do and how do you work the drums (when you need them)? These are questions that FamiTracker simply cannot answer.
FamiTracker is just a tool, an instrument, it does what you tell it to -- the rest is all you.

I'm trying to cover Quick Escape from Metroid and i'm wondering how to get the same note to play again instead of playing one long continuous one. I've seen it in yt videos i've tried using the green bar seeing to stop it but it's not working as expected i've added an image so you can see what i'm talking about
