Contra Level 1 music too big?

Postby brento1138 » Sun Aug 28, 2016 1:40 am

So I grabbed a contra ntf file, converted it to ftm, didn't edit anything, and tried to export it to a .nes file (using Famitracker) so that I could play it on my Nintendo via Everdrive. However it encounters an error telling me it's too big... This doesn't make sense, as the original file is the real contra stage 1 file.... So it should have worked. Am I missing something that would cause the file to be too big?

When you use Famitracker to export to .nes or .nsf you're not just converting "the music". You're converting the music into music data that the famitracker driver can perform and the .nes is both the FT music driver + your contra music data. It's very likely that the FT driver is much much bigger than the original music driver for contra and doesn't fit into it's original ROM size.

That's my guess anyway. I dunno
