Wanting to make a cover but need help

Postby derp_ » Tue Jun 16, 2015 7:13 pm

I want to make a cover of a song from Earthbound, but I don't know any programs to listen to each instrument individually. Sorry if this is a common question, I'm new.

Download EarthBound's SPC here and extract each channel with towave. Feel free to put them all together in Audacity or other such software.
Sarumi is best ship; confirmed and manifested.

The SNESmusic.org SPCs are more updated than Zophar's ones.

This SPC player and SPCTool are useful for inspecting the SPC state directly. SPC2IT does an acceptable job of what its name says.

Few tracks from this list are present in the JoshW listing.

I suggest you to get some MIDIs and import them with TuxGuitar or Guitar Pro. Then you can read the scores.
That's the way I've done my covers so far. It's cheating, I know, but gets the job done.
Working on an 8-bit cover of Scenes from a Memory. 9/12 songs finished.
