There isn't too much of a problem using VRC7's presets, right?

I am very new to this (Used it for 9 months, only just got seriously into it, learning all the mod chips. Still don't know how to use DPCM, it seems daunting) I've been working on a cover of Doom's E1M1 (Original, I know...) and while I began with VRC7, I'm aware it's kinda cheap to not try to recreate the feeling of the original without using preset stuff. I was figuring I would upload a VRC7 cover for critique, then work with FDS and some DPCM drums. Any feedback before I put out a rough draft would be appreciated. (Maybe a simple guide to DPCM too, if that's not asking too much). Thanks!

Note: I mean the basic presets that come with an install of Famitracker.

^ This video should help you with your DPCM problem.
There's also a program called RJDMC that allows you to import wave files and customize how they sound and export them to a real dpcm sample file. it's really cool. just google it.

Thanks very much. I've been working with the example drums (DPCM only) from the Famitracker wiki to get an idea of how it would sound with what I have in mind, and it sounds great.

In regards to VRC7 presets: You literally can't play more than one custom patch at a time, so using the presets is basically unavoidable if you want more than one type of sound playing at a time.

Yea, that's true. I'll probably make an improved version with the help of liking FDS more, learning DPCM better, and other feedback.

KEY LEVEL can really help out with making one patch sound like more than one patch. btw
