Have you ever wanted to add drum rolls to your song but don't know how? The Real Driller will explain that here. The noise and DPCM channels are recommended for this tutorial.

For the noise channel:
  1. You'll want to make an instrument that can do this. You'll mainly be doing this in the volume part.
  2. Type in the following MML string:

Code: Select all

15 10 5 15 10 5

NOTE: The one shown above is for the default speed of 6 ticks. You will need to adjust it depending on the speed of the song.

For the DPCM channel:
This one operates a little differently. Do the following:
  1. Load any DPCM sample.
  2. Use the Xxx effect. For example, if you're adding 32nd notes for a song that has 6 ticks per row, use X03.

Hmm, I used a drum roll on my last song, all I did was 15 0 looped. It wasn't in time, but it sounded fine to me.

I agree with you. If you want it in time, the tick speed is the key.
