Recently I've grown very fond of using Tim Follin's percussion style. I'll post it here, but keep in mind that I edited the kick instrument a little bit to make room for tri bass at the end.

EDIT: Yes, this is shamelessly taken from another FTM of mine. Just ignore the title/artist/copyright fields.

Instruments I'm currently using for an original song I'm composing right now. I uploaded an FTM instead of FTI's because they have to be used in a certain way. (You'll see ;))

3 pulse-wave trumpet instruments, based on ZUN's distinctive trumpets which are used extensively in Touhou music.

The notes in the demo ftm are from the Touhou 15 Stage 6 final boss theme.

Demonstrates the usage of the instruments.

I quite like this instrument (others may not) but really only when it's used at the correct times, like at the end of a really huge song (such as Auf Der Wirren Wetterwarte from Das Geheimnis der Happy Hippo Insel.)

All PCM samples from Skate or Die and Kings of the Beach, both written by Rob Hubbard, converted to DPCM for NES use.
Samples were recorded from their respective SID files using Acid64 Player in conjunction with jsiddevice.
The conversion somehow broke otherwise perfect loops - because of this you might hear jumps in some loops.

I recommend leaving the samples at maximum quality for optimal results.

EDIT
Fixed the 2 example songs.
