Actually, having listened to the ftm itself, the snare could be a bit louder, but the bigger problem is the volume of the squares/noise. If you reduce their volume, the DPCM/triangle will sound louder. A lot of Konami games didn't go over volume 4 or so for their melodies and just used higher volumes for accents, like TMNT3. This makes the triangle and DPCM stand out a lot more.

I know that, I was just demonstrating how to make the DPCM stand out a bit more over loud pulse waves. And yeah, that's usually what I like to do was well. I generally have my volume set up like this: [7 / 7 6 5 4]
