Re: What's the hardest song you've ever covered?
I have a habit of not naming my instruments when I make something. This habit proved very unhelpful when I covered Dancing Mad with only the 2A03 without DPCM. Having 64 instruments named "New Instrument" isn't exactly helpful, so when I was 3/4ths into the cover, I decided to start naming them to make things more organized.

...you mean that dancing mad, don't you?
Listening to it, it's pretty awesome. My favorite part starts at frame 22. Always loved that part.
And isn't the song supposed to be 12+ minutes long? The longest I've ever written (as in, original piece) was exactly 9 minutes. How someone manages to do 10+ pieces is beyond me.

I've only ever covered NES music (with one exception) but the hardest one I've covered might be Unbreakable Determination from Ninja Gaiden.

Um ... all of them?

Okay, yes, some songs are easier than others and by a long shot. But ultimately they're all challenging in different ways.
I think currently, the hardest one for me (that I've actually finished) is the Ba'al boss theme from Bravely Default. I managed to build a cover using as a stylistic choice only three channels.

Now that someone actually mentions it, I can't remember a time where I had major problems covering something, except maybe when I first started, and the odd time I try to get an overly accurate tempo without making it unintegral.
The most involved thing I worked on though, would probably be this so far. Covered it at speed 1 so I have control over every little detail, and really took advantage of that.
