Yep, that's what I'm doing. Right now, I'm just seeing if the community wants this to happen.

Not with you as the leader.

Again. That's why I'm going to run a vote for a different leader.

I'm a little confused still: if we're celebrating the launch of the 5B, then I'd assume the covers would be using 5B, but from what I understand, not only is the game that we'd be covering in 5B, but there's a tool readily available to import 5B .nsf? Where does the actual covering part come in here? Some people were annoyed at TFIV's tracks being covered with barely-similar FM (VRC7), and those didn't even have any kind of importer. Seems like it'd just encourage low-effort covers with nothing much original to them.
Fan of:
Cave Story, Mega Man X, MOTHER 3, Star Fox 64, Super Metroid, Shining Force.
Classic SEGA, Treasure, Square, Falcom.
Various roguelike RPGs and shmups/bullet hells.

True, true.
Now, the importer does have quite a few glitches, but I was thinking that could be used just for volume macros and getting DPCM and such.

Eh, I agree with jaxcheese here (and that's what I also tried stating earlier). There's not much point to covering a 5B OST with the 5B chip just for the lulz. You're better off covering music from another game.

The poll is speaking for itself. People do not want this to happen. I don't think there is any more point to discussion here.

If you try hard enough, any video game soundtrack with the source sequenced data available can always be converted into FamiTracker modules with virtually no manual input. Like I have said in another thread, covering tracks from these soundtracks will only be tedious, never difficult; this is especially true for NSFs since lossless conversions are possible.

By the way, you should not assume that 0.5.0 stable will be released at all.

There are plenty of Sunsoft games out there that could use some 5B enhancement — Batman Revenge of the Joker, Journey to Silius and Gremlins 2 would all greatly benefit from it. There are many creative ways to enhance a song with the 5B extension that aren't just literally just NSFimport it, slap some extra chords onto it and call it a day. And because the audio chip used by the 5B has a higher volume output than any other extension, the volume control may need rebalancing.
