VRC7 Custom Patches

Postby shadowzero26 » Sat Feb 25, 2017 3:09 am

I know this is not the prerogative of the developers, to make a chip that actually doesn't exist in reality, but if the VRC7 emulation was tweaked so that the standard patches could be rewritten by custom patches, or that more than one custom patch could be used at a time, I would die happy.

Please let me die peacefully. In fact, if I only get one wish from the make a wish foundation, this would be it: The ability to use multiple custom patches at a time, or the ability to rewrite the pre-programmed patches to make them better.

I got some really cool custom patches I want to use all at the same time.

If you want, you can edit FamiTracker's source code so that the non-0 patches map to different settings, but other than that there isn't any way. I guess you could create multiple .ftms of each custom pitch and edit them together later, but that would be difficult to work with.

Also, the primary developer of FamiTracker has been gone for months, and therefore this particular board(and really, this whole forum) are pretty much inactive. If you're interested in making feature requests, I would recommend going on the FT Discord server(it should be linked somewhere on this forum) and talk to the current develoepr, HertzDevil.

You can just run 6 instances of FamiTracker and then use syncplay.exe.

As I said on Discord, I do not understand why people request things like multiple simultaneous custom VRC7 patches instead of things like OPL2 support. Surely if you are going to produce something that cannot be played on hardware, it does not matter if the "hardware" is more powerful than the "limitations" you impose upon your hypothetical device; in other words, once you stop caring about hardware, everything works, even VSTs. Such a "feature" defeats the very purpose of FamiTracker.

If you want to "die", you have to learn basic C and C++ to "kill yourself". It is totally doable, but it will not be quite beautiful due to the weak interfacing in the code.

I think "multiple simultaneous custom VRC7 patches" is not good.
Because ORGINAL VRC7 is Custom chip of OPLL(=YM2413).
And OPLL only can play 1-custom patches at same time.

However its good re-write preset patches in VRC7.
VRC7 is re-written chip of OPLL too.
In honestly, I want this function too.

Anyway, restricted environment makes developer more creative.
I usually cover musics with VRC7, I found & made my instruments(=sounds) by "Detuning, Combining of different presets, and FT effects - like a slide pitch, Sxx effect -.
