Ultra Guy [2a03]

Postby TheNoobHunter » Tue Aug 02, 2016 1:04 am

So I'm working on a game called Ultra Guy, a Mega Man parody game. This is the first song I've made for it. Let me know what you think.

My main issue with this one is its almost irritating amount of repetition. I know Mega Man games are known for lots of ostinato, but this goes way overboard with it. Plus, besides just that, Mega Man games also have simple, yet energetic melodies. Your song lacks that feature. I would try to do something with that last frame; try continuing it.

This actually isn't bad. Here are some tips for improving it even more:

1. In many MM songs(or even Kevvviiinnn's stuff) when chords are playing, they tend to sort of "detach". That means that they don't stay just as chords and tend to go off on their own. Doing the same will help you.

2. There's nothing wrong with using MMC5, but if you're going for authenticity, you should stay in 2A03 and learn instrument juggling. B^3's tutorial is pretty good for this, especially this part: http://btothethree.tumblr.com/post/110129391737/how-to-use-famitracker-chapter-7-juggling

3.I still think that the intro goes on for a bit too long; keep it to one or two frame for the most "action-y" effect.

I really liked the way your module sounds, so I played a bit with the ftm. Now it don't even sound like a megaman track anymore!

I really like what you both did with this song
And hey, that was pretty cool seeing my clumsy melody come to life like that
Thank you (:

wow, now you have 2 great versions to choose from (assuming both composers are okay with it?)
You should just use them both, maybe one of them can be your Boss Battle or something?

I took Teuthida's criticism to heart and made another one. Let me know what you think!
Feel free to use it but it certainly doesn't hold up with these two

Also, give us some more information about your game! Is this song for the opening stage of your game?

So I decided to mess around with all of the versions of the song and I made a bit of a Frankenstein's monster out of them. I think it sounds pretty cool. So for the game I think it would be perfect to use this for the Wily Castle theme (or the Ultra Guy equivalent of it). Anyway, let me know what you think.

Hey, I made a cover of Ultra Guy using this concept for a game I had. I had made a bit of the soundtrack with some minor things done.
