3 very incomplete, uninspired songs (post yours!) [Beta]

I'm still relatively new to making music and something that happens a lot to me is that I start working on something and it feels like it's just a matter of time that I run out of ideas
it feels much harder to make any changes or add anything new/everything that I do change makes it sound artificial.
pretty frustrating considering that my ideas aren't very good to begin with

can you guys relate to this at all?
is that something you've experienced before?
how do you deal with this issue?
do you keep the songs you have abandoned? if so post some of them. maybe we can help each other or just have some fun

here are some songs I don't know what to do with

I pretty much hold on to every module I make, and there's quite a few unfinished songs that have been abandoned for one reason or another. Sometimes it's because the song lacks structure, or because I can't think of an interesting melody (especially when I try to write slow pieces, it just doesn't work out most of the time). I might come back to one or two of these eventually, but overall I feel it's better to move on to another idea if I've hit a huge brick wall. If something doesn't click within the first eight frames or so, I find it better to just move on.

As for my writing process, it's very sloppy. I usually just find a chord progression I like, write a simple bass line over it, and noodle around aimlessly with the melody. What helps is to try and hum out a nice motif that you can center your song around (there's a few recordings of me humming in my .ftm folder as well ).

Out of the three you posted, I think hippo.ftm has the most potential. It's very catchy so far.

Hopefully this helps a little bit. Who knows, though, I'm not really the advice-giving type.

you should absolutely finish some of those but who am i to say that

I absolutely agree, humming is great for writing stuff. Sadly I still struggle with putting musical thoughts on paper and in the process of trying to figure out the wrong notes I forget what i was thinking/humming
I guess doing covers can help with that

Do you return to your old projects often or do you just kind of forget about them? I feel guilty for not finishing them.

I usually forget about them until i go sifting through old files. There is one previously-abandoned module that i managed to turn into a song: https://soundcloud.com/footprints2014/o ... o-daybreak.

But I usually just forget them, or maybe incorporate some of it into a new song.

How I deal with not being able to do write down? Usually I stop for a while, watch a movie, play a game, and look for something cool music related. I usually get inspired like that.
Sometimes I even force myself to write stuff, just to practice, explore or experiment more, turns most of the time as a fun activity. I usually have to rework those and then I like em.

Humming or just singing it tends to help me a lot. I usually or come with a melody I made or a progression I wanna use.

I have a bunch of music tidbits that I don't know what to do with. They just sit collecting dust in my hard drive. I'm just gonna drop some of my uninspired music tidbits in here if none of you mind....

I've tried humming the tunes I come up with, and sometimes I'll get them in my head, but I lack pretty much any musical skill and it frustrates me that probably tens of songs I've come up with will never really exist.

I'm only really here to confirm what I believe, that im bad and RIP any musical dreams i have
