(I saw this song and I was like: VCR SEVEN~!!!!)
Tho I lacks a melody line, which usually makes songs more memorable...
This song is amazing, catches very well the feeling of tension and emotion that a good boss fight should have,
the use of the long chords and the 203A+VCR7 put to good use to give more weight on the song, make the song catch the feeling.

Good job mate

Oh... how you loved to kill me...

Nice to be encouraged by a fellow VRC7 enthusiast!
VRC7 is sadly very underappreciated, it's a great soundchip.

While this song has an awesome beat, I agree with LokiStriker that a melody would take this song from good to amazing. I would look for one or two channels that aren't used a lot and turn them into melodies. I also think that instead of inserting a melody into an existing frame, you should instead create a whole new section for it.

I agree with what LokiStriker and Teuthida have said. I just wanted to add that the custom patch 0D is freaking amazing sounding! Also this track kinda reminds me of Daytona USA a lot.

Now that you mention it, it does kinda sound flat...
It reminds me of After Burner's soundtrack, without the melodies in After Burner II, it's not as good.
I will add a melody and post it later! Cheers!

I'm honestly surprised at how well that patch turned out, I just took a pre-existing patch and changed it up a bit.

Dayyyyyyyyyyytoooooonaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Here's the edited version, I added the melody, along with some extra frames.

I like this new version better, if feels full-er this time around.

I feel the same way about it, its my preferred soundchip. Next would be VCR6.

Anytime! I love when people use the soundchip and I try to take my time to check em all.
So keep 'em coming!
