A thread for the Mission 9000 soundtrack

Postby BBLIR » Sat Dec 03, 2016 9:40 am

I am working on a game called Mission 9000.
It's going to be a Mega Man-inspired game with a level structure similar to Mega Man Zero's (the first one), along with some other stuff, like a simple armour upgrading system.
I'm not really good at making music, so any feedback, help, or support will be very helpful.
I'll be making one song at a time, so feel free to jump in and help with the soundtrack.
Also, I'm planning to split the game up into three chapters, where chapter 2 is more focused on gameplay and chapter 3 is more focused on story.

I've decided to port a song from MMXY.
Why?
Because I'm running out of ideas.
That's why I'm asking for help on this soundtrack.
That's why I made my first thread.
If you don't believe I'm not working on this project, here is the mothersheet (spoilers have been covered):

It would be very helpful if I got feedback on every song seperately.

I recommend against reposting your module over and over again, especially if you haven't added anything new to each. It makes you look needy.

If you really want criticism of your work, try heading to the Unofficial Famitracker Discord Server(a link should be somewhere in this forum). It's much more active than this forum and there are several experienced users there who can definitely help you out. While their critiques can be harsh, they're quite useful.

Updated main post.
I also made a thread over on Sprites INC.
Also I have half a notebook filled with M9000 development. If you want to, I can scan it.
And to clarify, I'm not going to compose the whole soundtrack. Feel free to change my music or add your own. The whole point of this thread is to gather help. Am I not being clear?

This forum is almost dead, getting complete and constructive criticism is rare. And being ignored while asking for help is very frustrating, that's why I may help you.

1) I noticed the bassline is made of the triangle & Sawtooth. But you do it wrong, which it makes your music noisy and unpleasant. You should use MechaGrapeFruit's work as reference: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2826&p=18955#p18754

2) There is a lot of phasing and dissonances, even if some melodies may be good (Example: Song #8, frame 02)

3) The OST has problem with dynamics, it also makes the music unpleasant and noisy.

If you have questions, post here. And look at people's work, it may inspire you.

But if you want more help, go here: https://discord.gg/MkZEE

Please edit your "Am I not being clear?", nobody would like to help you if you sound aggressive.
