Leaden Aura (VRC7)

Postby FloppyDisk » Wed Jan 04, 2017 1:19 am

Here's something I did for a friend of mine, as well as hopefully being the first video on my youtube channel.
This song was inspired by parts of songs from Thunder Force IV, Ridge Racer 6, and an overall tone akin to Ridge Racer Type 4.

EDIT: I uploaded it to my channel and added an intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7YDAs9 ... e=youtu.be

I really like Ridge Racer if you can't tell.
Enjoy!

Holy shit this has to be one of my favorite things ever why did I miss this

The fast electronica-styled beats with the jazz piano chords go so well together. It's like nujabes on cocaine! Some notes in the FM channel 6 sound kinda odd, but it's still pretty damn amazing.

Thanks for the feedback! FM channel 6 did sound a bit weird, so I changed the instrument and some of the notes to remedy this.

I think sinewave bass fits the dnb style a bit better. You can squeeze out a sinewave from the vrc7 AND keep your custom instrument by using patch1 and using 3FF that way the carrier envelope goes all the way down to 0 (patch 1 is pretty much the only preset that can do this) and won't ever reset on new notes. Then volume control by removing note cuts/note releases and using 0 and your volume (in this case D was too quiet so F fits fine).

Attached an edit of me doing exactly that.
