Shadow of the Thunder King (VRC6) (WIP)

NOTE: Edited 4/23, completed Clever Colossus 1 (version38)

Thought I'd make a new topic rather than post on the other, since it's labeled as Cosmic Glitch instead.
Slowly making progress on this, and I've got most of the songs planned out in some form. Added Into the Fray (well, there was a previous version that got mostly scrapped, then rewritten, then scrapped again), cleaned up a song or two, and added some more snippets of works in progress.

If I were to assume, this in some way tied to your last project, "Clash with The Thunder King?" The soundtrack so far is pretty fantastic. I'd argue the compositions on here are just as, if not better than the ones before it. Keep up the great work.

It is indeed. It's meant to be a sequel, because letting ideas die is hard, and I had a lot of song ideas left for the general style.

I had a lot of fun with CwtTK, but a lot of the material there were songs I'd conceptualized before (and written badly - Meteor Mania! was the first track I ever wrote waaaayyyy back in 2013, when it was 2A03. It's been revisited and scrapped several times since then, and the version in CwtTK is definitely its apex. If you want to guess at how bad the original version was, you can find the Stellar Storm thread, where I've included some of my first work alongside work where I actually knew what I was doing), so it was a way for me to take prior ideas and build on them, but that also meant that some of the work was there just because I wanted to revisit a particular song (I felt like the 2 Player stage themes were some of my best work, especially Heavenly Inferno, but kind of just dropped into the soundtrack without a lot of thought).

That's why this one is fun - I have no idea what I am doing, and making it up as I go along so I can build on the material that's there, what that means I need, playing with leitmotifs and a sort-of Sonic 3 approach where I can get two takes at an idea that (ideally) mesh well.

Along those lines, I just edited the document to include the finished version of Gambling Shambles, Scene One, which is titled Raggedy Swag, because I hate myself. The level behind this theme is a sort of Egyptian Pyramid-Casino Mashup (and trust me, the boss theme I'm working on for it is suitably tacky). I'm sure that one of those elements could be more played up, and the track might be a little rough around the edges in a place or two, but I had a ton of fun writing this. It's attached to the original post.

I had been thinking that I was losing my taste for this stuff (read: writer's block + grad applications), but if anything, I'm having as much fun as ever.

Did some work on this, feeling out the direction a little better (a lot of the WIPs are gone, and many tracks retitled). Added one complete level theme (Clever Colossus 1) and a few sketches, though I think the work on Clever Colossus 1 is enough to warrant an update (attached above).
