[2A03+5B] Digging in the past (requires beta 0.5 or later)

Postby ollaxe » Mon Jun 15, 2015 2:02 pm

I've returned with kind of a different song, because different is good, right? Right...?

Anyway, I haven't uploaded here in a while, mainly because I wanted to get this song 100 % perfect. Now it's finally at a state where I would consider it just that. It even comes complete with a bad name. :D

But what I think doesn't matter, it's what you think that does. So, what do you think? Is it good? Is it bad? Anything I should add, remove, edit or fix?

Enjoy! :)

Hi! I'm not really active here anymore but I still make music. Nowadays I mostly make dubstep with emphasis on good melodies and chord progressions.

I hope that I do not sound selfish by saying this... But I'm a little bit dissatisfied with the fact that this has gotten no response what so ever. Just some "Hey, you could do this and this to make it better" or simply "I like it" or "It sucks" would have been very nice... Just anything so that I know what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong, so I can become better at famitracker. :/

This is pretty cool. In both senses of the word.

There are lots and lots of hanging 4xy effects in there, in every pulse/square channel, as well as a hanging P7F effect in the 5B Square 1 channel. You should probably check that out (the "Display active effects" option should help you track those hanging commands fairly easily). Also I'm not sure I like the way the bass goes from very present to super quiet between frames 01 and 02. Other than that this is a pretty nice cover.

No, there aren't any hanging effects at all. I made sure there weren't any before uploading, and I've now also viewed the whole thing with the "Display active effects" without finding any. But thanks for telling me about the "Display active effects" feature. I didn't even know it existed! :D

That thing with the bass you mentioned, I tried balancing it out by making the triangle bass quieter with a Z40 command on the DPCM in frames 0x00-0x01 (and then setting it back to Z00 at frame 0x02, just for good measure, y' know). I thougt it was enough, but maybe it isn't. Any idea on how I could fix this?

Also, this isn't a cover... :P

Thanks for the feedback, jrlepage! I appriciate it! :)
