Postby littlelamp100 » Thu Apr 30, 2015 1:10 am

For those of you who saw this on the old forum, it's finally done! (cue the V00 trumpets)
For those of you who didn't...
This is a soundtrack that I started on New Year's eve and (with much rushing) finally finished tonight! It's got some 2A03 music and stuff. yey
enjoy plx ;)

I may or may not have helped slightly with the final boss theme. ;)

I feel like I've heard a multichip version of Track #5 before... for a Mega Man fangame, I think? It was posted on the 0CC forum.

Anyway, I love the tuned percussion in the password track! Well done with the entire soundtrack, and I hope you plan to make more: this is some really solid stuff!

Oh, Mega Man Infamous Intent? I gave them permission to use that song. I'm actually working on that game, too.

No! It's this one!
It's so good that it's the only 8-bit album (of which I have over 40) that's not from a game that's on my phone!

I like the ending theme! It's rather fitting with the rest of the game's music. The "Entering the Fortress" theme, while I have no idea how it's supposed to be used (for a cutscene, or like Megaman 10, or whatever) is nice too. The Credits theme is also very nice.

But the Final Boss theme is... off. Quite off to me.

Frames 00 and 01 set the scene perfectly - it's chaotic, tense and sounds awesome. And then suddenly, that's all dropped when it carries onto Frame 02-05. It's a very jarring comparison to me, the blips don't carry enough power to continue the strength of the song, and the lead doesn't really benefit from a lacking back. In my opinion, frames 06-09 are how it should've been done in 02-05 - Pulse 1 keeps the chaoticness of the violin in Frame 00-01 and it holds enough power to compliment the lead - and then it goes back to 0A-0D, which, while it would sound nice in its own theme, falls to the same flaws that 02-05 did, only greater. The contrast between 09-0A isn't that great, and the drumbeat in 09 gets you anticipating something more. And, as before, 0E-11 comes to save the day with a good Pulse 1 to back it up, and this is also how I feel 0A-0D should've been done.

I'm still rather disappointed that you chose the drop those violins immediately - I was looking forward to seeing what you could've done with them. I even made a terrible mock-up of what it wouldn't sound like with my beautiful composing skills.

Frame 00 in the All Clear theme also sounds quite weird against 01.
