Link's Awakening - Mabe Village

Postby Bramble » Mon Nov 23, 2015 4:03 am

This song is one of my favorite songs in Zelda! Not too hard to cover this one (no triangle or percussion!), but I tried to make it sound as exact to the original game as I could. I made the pitch on the instruments all -1 since it makes it sound more like it would off an actual GameBoy, but maybe I'm wrong. Pitch on 0 sounds fine as well, but let me know which is better! If you see any issues or mistakes I made please let me know so I can fix them! Thank you all so much! :D

EDIT: Found a small mistake, which has been corrected

EDIT 2: Don't want to double post, but I fixed the Harmony's pulse to 50% and tried my best to use Fxx on the last part of the song. I hope I did it properly! Thanks Manatee! I tried to figure out what notes I had done wrong as Dwedit pointed out, but could not seem to find any. Of course if there are any further errors I will fix them, thanks so much!

EDIT 3: Reverted what I thought was a mistake, thanks Lord Nightmare!

I like it! The notes are all correct, as well as the volume envelopes. There are two issues with it, though. The harmony is also a 50% pulse wave like the melody, not a 25%. Also, I think the ending could've been done better with an Fxx effect.

The notes are not all correct, and it's very annoying.

Thanks Manatee, I'll fix the pulse wave to a 50% and work on the Fxx thing when I get home. Which notes are incorrect Dwedit, if you know specifically which ones so I can fix them? Thanks

I never liked the GB and GBC Zelda soundtracks at all. However, this is a very accurate cover of the original, which I applaud.
But what's up with the weird lengths of the frames? They don't correspond with the measures at all. For instance, you made the first frame end on the third beat of a measure so the next frame would start on beat 4 of that same measure. Why did you make it like that?

I guess I don't really have a reason, I just did it when there was a part I needed to work harder on so I didn't have to listen to the whole song all the way through. In some songs you can repeat frames and stuff for convenience, but on this one nothing repeats as far as I know, so I didn't really think it mattered.

Still wrong notes in the accompaniment.
