Those are really good... in fact, too good to be Hummer Team songs! :D The instruments are spot on. I'm now curious about how a lot of songs would sound in the Hummer style :D

Thats the magic of hummer - they had the talent, the only reason why their covers sound inaccurate is because of 2 things: one - they needed to get the games out as fast as possible. and two - they listened to the game soundtrack by ear over a phone line, which in itself is already quite a feat to cover sonics soundtrack for somari so accurately over a crappy phone speaker.

It's also possible Chen Yi didn't have much experience at coding (though I've heard Somari uses an advanced sound driver), hence the odd instruments. He may have also been unfamiliar with the original tunes. If you want to be authentic to the Hummer Team-style, maybe you should do the same by playing the music through a phone speaker and try and cover it . =P

The "odd instruments" actually come from a licensed Nintendo game, De-Block by Athena. Athena used some strange sounds in their 90s games, they were probably trying to simulate some sort of futuristic synth.

Actually those instruments are pretty inaccurate...the volume and the pitch arent very exact. Also Hummer Team songs can sound very good, Aladdin has some great tunes and Hummer's original compositions (like in Jing Ke Xin Zhuan) are really nice.

Wow! How do you know all this Hummer Team trivia? Where did you find it? And why did they have to listen to the original songs over a phone line?

I suppose, but the feel remains the same, not to mention that they're indistinguishable from the original ones, unless you really analyze them.
