Postby H4v0c21 » Tue Aug 01, 2017 11:09 pm

Hello I'm new to this forum and fairly new to Famitracker and I wanted to share my first creation. Feedback is much appreciated.

Hey, this is pretty good! That being said, there are quite a few things you could do to make it better:

Specific Problems:
The drums in the beginning have a lot more variation than a repeated series of E-# notes! Try to emulate the original percussion more accurately. The lead-in to the chords also lacks punch.
The arpeggio part on the Pulse and Sawtooth channels could be quieter.

General Problems:
You don't use any DPCM at all. This is a serious issue, as DPCM would allow you to get a much more accurate sound to the original song. There is an old tutorial on my YouTube channel that teaches how to use it.
You don't use a lot of effects, either. There's nothing particularly wrong with this approach, but it might be a good idea to try some out and see how they affect the sound. You may find yourself with a nicer arrangement.
You overuse note cuts. Note cuts make the channel instantly cut out, which doesn't go well with the mood of this piece (really, most songs don't do well with note cuts). Instead, either define release macros for your instruments and replace your note cuts with note releases, or use Axy.

I hope you further improve your FamiTracking skills! You're already off to a good start.

General word of advice: Volume channels on Triangle are useless, as there are only two states: on (1-15) and off (0).

Other than that, this is pretty gooHEY WAIT A SECOND.

Yep. I was duped. This is MMC5, not VRC6! Good job on making the two MMC5 channels sound almost like VRC6 pulses.
Finally got a channel. Little personal code book: s4.6 = Stable version 4.6, b5 = beta 5, 00CX = 00CFT (version number).

Anything I could improve?

Maybe on the DPCM side of things?
