Kirby's Dream Land 3 - Sand Canyon 1 [4ch-N163]

Postby Dr. Merio » Tue Jul 07, 2015 1:10 am

Wow I made this 2 months ago and I just realized I never told anyone about it.

In a similar way to my previous Candy Mountain cover, this was intended to be super-accurate, although a few waves aren't really perfect. I think making these kinds of covers is interesting in a way, because you get a similar sound to that of the original song, but on a less powerful system. The only bad thing is that creativity is really limited but I don't care in this case hahah.

As always, I hope you enjoy this. I would love to hear your opinions on it too!

[Original song]

And yes this is my fifth cover of this song.

You need to vary your portfolio. Still pretty good

Well, I'd like to do covers from other games, but for now I'll mostly stick to Kirby stuff. Maybe a little bit of Mario too. Doing stuff in a more chippy style is something I've wanted to do for a long time too, and for these, VRC6 (and perhaps MMC5 or both at the same time) would be great. I'm glad you liked this btw!

Every once in a while, you see one of these perfectly done songs with no mistakes or issues at all! Huge congratulations!

My god! How are you this good at making 8-bit N163 covers of Kirby SNES music? This is awesome dude!
Hi! I'm not really active here anymore but I still make music. Nowadays I mostly make dubstep with emphasis on good melodies and chord progressions.

Practice :P

Not to be snarky or anything, but practice is what makes you better. Learning about how the songs work by listening to stuff like the volume balancing and overall effects also helps, but it can be hard sometimes. For the instruments, furrykef's Audacity tool is really useful because it lets you get N163 wave data from audio files. Zamual helped a bit with this too (thank you m8 \(^o^)/).

Anyway thank you, it's great to know that you really liked this song!
