I decided to cover this song using the Konami VRC7 chip. The original game's sound hardware uses two YM2203 chips, and the YM2203 may ring a bell for you if you've heard of Touhou Project, as that chip was used in the NEC PC-88 and PC-98 sound card. This song would fit the YM2608 chip.
Since there was no MIDI for this song, I recorded every track using Hoot into Audacity and transcribed it from there. It's a shame there wasn't an NES port of the original Darius, as it would have to be scrunched for a 4:3 television, and the original game used a 4:1 aspect ratio over three monitors.
