Neil Voss, composer of the soundtrack for Nintendo's Tetrisphere, claimed in a 1998 interview with IGN that he made it in FastTracker 2, using multi-channel echo in a 16-channel .xm to avoid the CPU hit of doing software reverb. Another interview that I remember reading (but can't find at the moment through web search) claims that Voss frequently argued with producers at Nintendo over the fact that his techno didn't always have a catchy melody. So partly out of protest, he included an alternate chiptune soundtrack in Tetrisphere that can be accessed through a secret code.

"Sappy" is one of the secret songs, and it's the one that led me to realize how to make single channel echo.
